Madonna Comes To Norway

I haven’t been to a concert in years – I suppose it’s because all the big acts are in London and it can be an effort getting there and back from Southampton.  Madonna came to Oslo this week – her first time in Norway – and because Norway is so small, it’s pretty easy to get hold of tickets.  The concert was held at Valle Hovin (basically an outdoor concrete football pitch – no seats) which was about 30 mins from where we live.  The venue can hold 40,000 people and it was bursting at the seams.  40,000 people…that’s about 1% of the Norwegian population!

We went on the first night.  She didn’t appear on stage until 9pm and after waiting from 5pm, I have to say that we were expecting something pretty good to make up for the hanging around in the rain.  She didn’t disappoint though…nearly 2.5 hours of constant dancing and singing…she has amazing energy and stamina.  She made lots of references to Michael Jackson throughout the show and she mixed her songs with other dance tracks – it was really well put together.  I’m so glad that we went.  Watch the AOL video online.

Aftershow was interesting…40,000 people now making there way to the T-Bane and Bus Station!  It took about 1.5 hours to get back so we were pretty shattered the next day but hey, it’s not everyday that you get to see a global superstar!  There are a few festivals coming up with Lily Allen, Coldplay etc – we might give one of those a go!
